Ordering & Delivery

How will my cheese be packaged?

We take extra care to make sure your cheese arrives fresh and in good condition. Your order is wrapped in foil-backed bubble wrap and packed with ice packs inside a sturdy cardboard carton.

Our packaging is designed to help keep your cheese cool while it makes its way to you.

Can I recycle the packaging that my order comes in?

Yes! We’ve chosen packaging that can be reused or recycled where possible.

The foil-backed bubble wrap can be recycled with your soft plastics, and the cardboard carton can go into your kerbside recycling or be reused in the garden.

The ice packs can be reused over and over again. If you choose to dispose of the gel, it can be applied to soil where it will naturally break down over time. The gel can also act as a soil water-retention agent and is commonly used in horticulture and planting.

The only parts of the packaging that need to go into landfill are the postage label and cellotape.

When will my order be sent?

Orders are packed and dispatched according to our current shipping schedule. Dispatch times may vary around weekends, public holidays and busy periods.

Please check the delivery information provided at checkout for the most up-to-date details.

Why isn't a particular cheese available online?

Our online range is based on what's available at the time. We may add products when the shop has surplus stock, so not everything available in-store will necessarily be listed online.

If there's a particular cheese you'd love to see available online, we'd love to hear from you!

What happens if my order arrives damaged?

We take care when packing every order, but occasionally things can happen during transit.

If your order arrives damaged or there is a problem with your cheese, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and photos of the issue so we can look into it for you.

Cheese Care

How should I store my cheese?

Once your order arrives, remove the cheese from its outer packaging and store it in the refrigerator.

For best results, keep cheese wrapped or in an airtight container to prevent it from drying out and absorbing other flavours from the fridge.

Some cheeses benefit from a little airflow, so avoid completely sealing softer cheeses for long periods. If you notice moisture building up, unwrap the cheese briefly and rewrap it with fresh cheese paper or suitable wrapping.

Can I freeze my cheese?

Yes, most cheeses can be frozen. Please note that once thawed, cheese can become a little drier or more crumbly than it was before freezing. This doesn't compromise the taste, but the texture may change slightly.

For this reason, frozen cheese is particularly well suited to cooking, baking, sauces and other recipes where texture is less important.

What's the best way to freeze cheese?

Prepare and portion: Cut your cheese into usable portions so you only need to thaw what you're going to use.

Shred or grate: Shredded cheese freezes well and is convenient for cooking. If shredding your own cheese, lightly toss it with a little cornflour/cornstarch to help prevent the pieces from sticking together.

Slice for convenience: For sliced cheeses, place baking paper between the slices before freezing to prevent them from sticking together.

Wrap well: Wrap the cheese tightly in plastic wrap, wax paper or aluminium foil.

Keep it airtight: Place the wrapped cheese into a resealable freezer bag or airtight container. Remove as much air as possible to help prevent freezer burn.

Label it: Write the type of cheese and the date it was frozen on the packaging so you know what you have and how long it's been stored.

How should I thaw frozen cheese?

For the best results, thaw cheese slowly in the refrigerator rather than at room temperature. Allow it to thaw completely before using.

Some cheeses may be slightly crumbly or drier after freezing, so they are often best used in cooking, baking or sauces.

How long will my cheese last?

The shelf life varies depending on the type of cheese. Always check the use-by or best-before date on your product.

Once opened, keeping your cheese properly wrapped and refrigerated will help maintain its quality for longer. Some harder cheeses will keep considerably longer than softer cheeses.

If you're unsure whether a cheese is still good to eat, check its appearance, smell and texture. When in doubt, it's safest to discard it.
